Flavio Corsin is the Sustainable Trade Initiative (IDH) Vietnam Manager and Asia aquaculture representative. Flavio is also a co-founder of ICAFIS and served as the 1st ICAFIS Director from March 2010 to January 2012. Graduated with a M.Sc. in Aquaculture from the University of Stirling (UK), he was awarded a Ph.D. in aquatic epidemiology by the University of Liverpool with research in rural areas in Vietnam and India. He conducted post-doctoral research in the University of Stirling and North Carolina State University (USA), before deciding to move to a more applied and development-oriented position. Worked for the Network of Aquaculture Centres in Asia-Pacific (NACA) for 3 years during which he coordinated several projects in Vietnam, Iran, Indonesia and other Asia-Pacific countries. In 2007 he started working for WWF, coordinating the development of the ASC standards for pangasius and setting up the WWF Vietnam aquaculture program. In 2010 he was instrumental to the establishment of ICAFIS and to its development into a leading organization in aquaculture and fisheries sustainability. At IDH he is now continuing to support the sustainable development of the aquaculture sector through co-financing of sustainability initiatives.
